Bowl Games: Yours Is Not To Reason Why

DECEMBER, 2008 – With the annual trio of bowl issues coming up beginning with next week’s issue of Sports Reporter, it’s time to issue the annual reminder about not getting all caught up in how College Football goes about its business with the BCS system. Just because almost all other sports have playoff systems doesn’t mean that College Football should have one. If everyone jumped off a bridge, should College Football jump off a bridge, too? Put the Playoff vs. BCS debate out of your mind, because it is only a distraction for a bettor. For the bettor, it shouldn’t matter if College Football wants to pick its champion out of a hat full of names, and if SMU is the school picked. The bettor deals with the match-ups being dealt. Let the idealistic loudmouth clowns battle it out in the Big Wind, Don’t Know What Else to Write About, Little Impact Bowl. Why does the American population care as much as they seem to care about the BCS system vs. a playoff? Is it because they’ve been told to care and complain by the media, which has space to fill and needs to fill it as easily and conveniently as possible with their dreams and schemes and easy solutions to things that aren’t even problems? If people started to analyze other things except for sports, maybe they’d realize that they’re being taken for a rides much more harmful and unfair than in a silly sport…MORE
